Stand Up is an experimental publication built around a simple physical challenge: finding different ways to make an egg stand upright. The project documents both successful and failed attempts, translating the experiments into a structured editorial narrative through photography, sequencing, typography, and information design.
Two table-of-contents structures, a recurring chapter system, and an index organize the book, while failed experiments form a hidden visual archive that culminates in the publication’s only full-color spread.

Top outer corners indicate the action used to make the egg stand; top center identifies the object used in the experiment; small corner numbers indicate the page sequence; time shown beside each photograph records how long the egg remained standing.

Experiments are grouped horizontally by action; experiments are arranged vertically by how long the egg remained standing; each thumbnail locates an experiment at the intersection of its action and recorded duration.
The index maps every experiment across two variables: action and standing time.

This hidden chapter begins by reversing the book’s premise and introducing failure as part of the experiment.
The only full-color spreads in the book highlight rupture and separate the hidden archive from the monochrome main sequence.
Each failed attempt is documented through image, cause, and code, turning accidental breakage into a structured archive.
Rather than excluding failed attempts, the publication incorporates them as evidence of process, uncertainty, and persistence.
